Work continues at the iconic construction site of The Rylands Building as demolition and structural alteration works comes to an end marking a key milestone in the development timeline.
If you found yourself walking down Market Street this past weekend, you may have noticed the first tower crane being assembled on site. Behind the white curtain wrap, the transformation continues to unfold. With façade cleaning now complete, restoration and repair work are well underway, revealing the building’s original character. Inside, column strengthening, cast foundations, and slab infills are progressing to support a striking four-storey extension. This new addition, featuring a steel and glass atrium, promises to bring a bold, modern contrast to the building’s historic charm.

With sliding cores scheduled to begin in July, internal fit-out set for October, and rooftop extension steelwork kicking off in November, progress is gathering pace. Once complete, The Rylands Building will stand as a distinctive addition to Manchester’s skyline; a bold blend of heritage and modern design, contributing to the city centre’s continued transformation.
